MARKETING TIP #094
Top 4 Tips to Make Your Website Work for You.

As everyone turns to the World Wide Web first to find the best hot dog vendor or to locate a cabinet maker to remodel their kitchen, it’s never been more important to have a modern, intuitive and attractive website to represent your brand.

Here are the top four tips to make your website work for you:

Design. The site should be consistent with your brand’s look and feel. This means that your website should fit with your other marketing pieces.

User-friendliness. The navigation should be laid out so the user knows where they are, where they came from, and where they should go to find the answer to their question. Want to test this out? Ask a friend who is not familiar with your site to answer a specific question about your product or service by searching your website. If they’re having trouble or getting frustrated, it’s likely your customers are as well.

Content. Current and relevant copy is essential in letting your customers know what separates you from your competition. Content rich in keywords relevant to your company and that consumers are likely to search for allows your site to rank higher on search engine results. According to web usability guru Jakob Nielsen, the average user starts their web adventures with a search engine 88% of the time. Quality content really pays off!

Keep it current. For Search Engine Optimization (SEO), think of your website as an ongoing process. Because search engines are looking for the most up-to-date information, you should update your site at least every three months - or sooner. Product updates, blogging or current news postings are all good ways to keep your information current.
